Character Background(physical characteristics, personality, occupation, etc.[at least 300 words]):
Physical characteristics:
The Blacks are notorious for their height and Sirius Black is no exception. He is 5'11" tall, weighing about 170 pounds. Sirius Black has dark grey eyes that turn darker when he is gripped by intense emotion. He has black hair, beginning to slightly streak with grey, which is wavy and reaches just to his shoulders. He is athletic in build and is back to a stronger physic after being wrongfully imprisoned for many years in Azkaban. He has long lean muscles, tight abs, and strong legs and arms due to his time in his animagus form of a large black wolfhound. He is covered with prison tattoos. He is very good-looking, and suave with an aristocratic air. He has a history of having a temper but now he tends to be cynical and finds humor at the least opportune moment, with a laugh like a bark. He speaks his mind and is not easily intimidated, which is a reflection of his height and his physical presence.
Sirius is an intelligent man who has settled down slightly since his escape from Azkaban. His brush with death at the Ministry of Magic had startling affect on himself because he realized the effect of his mortality on Harry. He was not killed that day, by shear luck, but the killing curse had knocked him almost unconscious and he had apparated back to 12 Grimwauld place just prior to loosing sense of all things. He was strongly moved at Harry's reaction to his re-appearance at being alive, and this has tempered his normal hasty and impulsive nature to be a bit more thoughtful and purposeful in his actions. He is so fond of Harry, and has started to toy with the idea of finding a suitable mate for himself so that he can have an heir.
Sirius is independently wealthy and does not work in the traditional way. He is not idle; he is a vigorous athlete and runner. He has taken to pouring over the books in the Black library, and he is fascinated with Muggle things. His latest hobby has been to "mugglize" Grimwauld place, and purchase the best muggle inventions to entertain the younger people and alleviate the tensions that are constant at the house.
Character Origin(their past [at least 300 words]):
Sirius is the oldest son of Orion Black and Walburga Black, and the older brother of Regulus Black. These relatives are all deceased. His cousins- Bellatrix and Narcissa are alive and well, but he does not speak to them. Andromeda and her husband Ted Tonks are his favorite cousins, and he dotes on his second cousin, Nymphadora Tonks.
Sirius is a pureblood, from the most respected House of Black. It was an experience as a young boy that turned his beliefs away from the vanity of the purebloods. He had developed a friendship with a neighborhood girl and they had become good friends. Upon discovery of his relationship, his parents were mortified and adamantly denied him access to her, punishing him for his association with the Muggle. This forced control spurred Sirius towards rebellion, and he began a personal investigation into the muggle world. His research, through books, spying and subtle interactions at the local markets and parks, proved that there was nothing wrong or different about Muggles except for their lack of magical skills.
Sirius decided by the time he was eleven that his family was completely off base, and this personal opinion was revealed inadvertently when he was sorted into Gryffindor House. The house sorting began Sirius's journey to stronger rebellion against his family's beliefs. It was the summer of his sixteenth birthday when hostilities were openly voiced, and sides were taken. Sirius left, to move in with the Potters, and the following summer, purchased a small house with his own money (inherited from his uncle.) In the years that followed, he first lost his younger brother Regulus, who mysteriously disappeared. His father died and soon after his mother passed away, leaving him the family estate of 12 Grimwauld Place. He was wrongly accused of killing a number of muggles and Peter Petegrew in his attack against Peter Petegrew for selling out the Potters to Voldemort. He was put in Azkaban for 12 years, where he finally escaped to search out Peter Petegrew at Hogwarts and try to capture him to prove his innocence.
He is Harry Potter's godfather, and relishes in that familiar role. He has a great sense of responsibility for the boy and will leave the house to him should he never marry when he dies. Sirius almost died in an attack occurring at the Ministry of Magic four years before the current story. Since that time, Sirius has been cleared of all false charges, as the attack proved that Voldemort had indeed returned, and Peter Petegrew was seen fighting by his side. Captured Death Eaters testified to Petergrew's living presence, which helped to clear Sirius without fear of being reincarcerated. Tension remains in the Wizarding community but at least Sirius does not have to fear being re-captured and thrown in to Azkaban.
Sirius still lives in his home at 12 Grimwauld Place and is an active member of the Order of the Phoenix. His best friend is with Remus Lupin.
